Creative Rest

The pursuit of beauty often gets dismissed as vain or superficial. And yes, it can be—but it doesn’t have to be. I love beautiful things, and I love surrounding myself with them. Whether it’s a delicate flower in the park or an awe-inspiring painting in a museum, beauty has a way of relaxing me, filling me with happiness, and sparking new inspiration.

Einstein once said, "He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe is as good as dead." That sense of wonder is at the heart of creative rest. It’s the process of letting beauty refuel your soul. It’s not about achieving or producing; it’s about pausing to marvel at the world around you. Maybe your creative rest is a trail through a local park, where the sunlight dances through the trees. Maybe it’s at an art museum, standing before a masterpiece. Or maybe it’s in your own garden, surrounded by flowers you planted yourself. Creative rest comes in these quiet, unhurried moments of simply noticing.

This type of rest inspires us and fills our souls with imagination and joy. It helps us find gratitude, fuels hope, and, if we let it, can lead to our own creative output. For me, creative rest is integral to my designs. I find it in the intricate patterns of marble lines, created over centuries by nature itself. I could—and often do—spend hours admiring them, in awe of their beauty and complexity. Through my work, I strive to bring that sense of creative rest into the home, crafting pieces that invite wonder and inspire reflection.

Creative rest isn’t just about taking a break—it’s about connecting to something deeper, something beautiful. And that connection is where the magic happens.
